Quarteira introduces itself as a new town, where fishing and tourism have an enormous importance for its economy.

Its pedestrian Avenue with palm-trees along with the beach, is the place where tourists and locals find themselves relaxing in sunny days, hot nights, in summer or winter time. Here is where the amusement of the town is held: the Carnival parade, the Popular Saints fest and Summer live music festivals.

The beach of Quarteira is one of the best in the Algarve, with golden sandy beaches divided by rocks, with a calm sea and amen temperatures. All of this contributes to one of the most safe beaches in the region along with a permanent vigilance.

Near Quarteira:

Loulé ( 12 km ): Is an important and old town in the Algarve. Place to visit : the Moorish castle, the Mother Church, S. Sebastian Church and Our Lady Chapel. The town celebrates one of the most ancient carnivals of Portugal. Every Saturday is held its market, visited by tourists and locals who come for shopping.

Saint Laurence Church in Almancil ( 8 km ): It’s a fine example of the Portuguese Baroque, where its simple exterior contrasts with its austere interior with a rich decoration and tiles dating from the 18th century.

Faro ( 23 km ): It’s the capital of the Algarve. Not to miss the old town Vila a Dentro with its walls and castle, the Arch “Arco da Vila”, the See Cathedral, Saint Francis Church and Carmo church. The pedestrian street “Rua de Santo António” is where is located the main shopping area.
